About our Pastor:
Christine S. Lippert
Pastoral Call:
After working in elementary education for 20 years, I left to follow my call to ministry in 2019. For the next four years while attending Eden Theological Seminary full time, I also served in ministry full time at Troy UMC in Troy, IL. I served as director of children’s ministry, coordinated marriage ministry, led GriefShare groups at Troy and Freeburg churches, and filled the pulpit at Troy UMC, Worden UMC, St. Jacob UMC and St. John UCC.
I graduated from Eden Theological Seminary in May 2023, where I won an academic excellence award. I served as the chair of our school chapel my senior year. The year prior, I was Eden chapel minister. My undergraduate degree from Ohio Christian University is in Pastoral leadership and Biblical studies.
My call on my life is pastoral leadership. I feel the Spirit in my ministry most when I am in the pulpit using the Gospel, referencing scripture, and lending it to (modern day and delete this) everyday life application. I have a passion for pastoral care, especially grief care. Just like John Wesley I feel “strangely warmed” when I see people worshiping, enjoying fellowship together, and (delete this but also) spending time in small groups growing in their faith and discipleship. I believe a church should be known in their community, be seen in their community, and the church should be active, not just on Sunday.
Personal Life:
I grew up in the country between Hecker and Smithton. I attended New Athens School from kindergarten through the 12th grade. I have lived in Smithton for twenty years. My children are 16 months apart in age and are the best of friends. My son is a Freshman at University of Illinois and my daughter is a senior at Freeburg Community High School. I am a single, divorced mom. I fill my time with supporting my daughter in her sports, landscaping, watching football, (delete and) formula 1 racing, and attending spiritual retreats and conferences.
